Reformed rescue dog saves hummingbird from death; they become best friends
Having had to fend for himself for most of his life, Rex - a Sheppard mix - would fight with other dogs and try to kill local cats.
Slowly but surely Rex settled into domestic life and one day, on a walk, the dog showed his owner that he’d completely reformed.
Rex spotted a severely injured hummingbird, which Ed believed was dead, under a tree and refused to leave its side.

Ed brought the tiny bird - which he called Hummer - home and painstakingly nursed it back to health, even going as far as feeding the hummingbird every 15 minutes.
Now Hummer and Rex have become inseparable, to the point they share water out of the dog bowl.
Ed knows the time is coming to release Hummer back into the wild, having amazingly thought her to fly again with a hairdryer.
He told CBS he is trying his best to let her go, but she won’t leave.
"It’s time for her to start mating and I keep leaving the doors and windows open thinking she’ll leave," said Ed.
"It’s just a miracle."
