The centenary of the sinking of the Lusitania with the loss of 1,198 lives in an act of war off the Cork coast was marked last week. Happier times on the Lusitania are recalled at Lynes and Lynes auction in Carrigtwohill next Saturday (May 23) at 11 am.

A breakfast menu from June 1910, along with two dinner plates, a silk ribbon worn at the launch of the vessel in 1906 and a boxed medal will be sold as one lot. The estimate is €100-€200.
