The catalogue for the sale —next Monday at 6pm — features 161 lots including works by Lord of the Dance Michael Flatley, Andy Warhol and a strong selection of Irish artists. With sterling so strong against the euro the viewing in London this week was most timely.
National Antiques Week — which has been designated by the Irish Antique Dealers Association (IADA) — is scheduled to get underway at Russborough House today.
There will be two days of valuations, lectures and guided tours from noon to 5pm each day. The idea of the week’s events is to open up the exciting worlds of antiques and collecting to a new audience.Further info at www.iada.ie
The antiques and general auction at Kerry Auction Rooms, Moyderwell, Tralee, takes place at noon today. It is on view from 9am.
Hibernian Antique Fairs are at Ashdown Park Hotel, Gorey, Co Wexford, from 11am to 6pm tomorrow.
Flora is the title of the group show now underway until May 2 at the Lavit Gallery in Cork. It features work Jean Bardon, James Engish, Eadaoin Harding Kemp, Stephen Lawlor, Damaris Lysaght, Lars Nyberg, Eilis O’Connell, Jane O’Malley and Sarah Walker.
The 137th annual exhibition of the Dublin Painting and Sketching Club continues at Dun Laoghaire County Hall until April 26. Sponsored by Whyte’s,with some 280 works on display.
More than 100 Irish banknotes from the early 19th century will come under the hammer at an auction of paper money by specialist London dealers Dix Noonan Webb on April 27. Highlights include a £10 note issued by the Royal Bank of Ireland on May 6, 1929 (€4,000-€5,000).
