The Hangover actor Ed is already on board to portray a grown-up Rusty Griswold, the young son of Chevy’s character Clark Griswold.

Thor star Chris, who has apparently been looking to do a comedy, is tipped to play Stone Crandall, an up-and-coming anchorman and the husband of Rusty’s sister Audrey.

Christina Applegate will play Rusty’s wife. Chevy and Beverly D’Angelo are to make cameos in the movie, which will begin shooting in September after having been delayed by creative differences over the film’s rating.

The new film, which will be written and directed by Horrible Bosses’ John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, will follow Rusty as he brings his own family for a holiday, similar to the ones he took as a child.

The hit 80s comedy franchise featured an all American family on their holiday adventures and kicked off in 1983 with National Lampoon’s Vacation, with follow-ups in Europe, Vegas and a Christmas sequel.

Chris has completed shooting Ron Howard’s Moby Dick-inspired drama In The Heart Of The Sea and will reprise his superhero role as Thor in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

Charlie, who appeared in Pacific Rim, will next be seen in Horrible Bosses 2 alongside returning co-stars Jason Bateman and Jason Sudeikis.
