Fresh work and old vie for bidders in Cork
Paintings by up and coming and established Irish artists as well as furniture, silver; sculpture and collectible items, feature at Dolan’s sale in Cork tomorrow . Viewing is underway at Rochestown Park Hotel for a sale of 240 lots which go under the hammer at 2pm.
There are 11 fresh-to-market early works by Kenneth Webb. Among other artists in the sale are John Coll, John Behan; Arthur Maderson; Robert Egginton; Basil Blackshaw; John Schwatschke; Tony O’Malley; John Kingerlee; David Ffrench le Roy; Sean McSweeney; Henry Morgan; Jack Donovan and Thelma Mansfield. There is a collection of 15 monochrome etchings of musicians by Gertrude Dagenhardt.
Collectibles include a German Third Reich officer’s badge and dog handler’s medal. There is a 17th century oak bible box and a 19th century travelling mirror inscribed by a Private Turnbull who was stationed at Victoria Barracks, Cork.
Viewing at Rochestown Park is from 10 am to 9 pm today and from 10 am to the start of the sale tomorrow.
