It begins with the National Oyster Opening Championships on Friday followed by the World Championships on Saturday and Féile na Mara — Wild Atlantic Tastes Sunday Family Day ( www.galwayoysterfestival.com ).

The Macroom Food Festival (Sept 25-27) kicks off with a tasting menu and entertainment at the Riverside Park Hotel and the Sunday food market is always worth a visit, ( www.macroomfoodfestival.com ).
