Coillte appoints experienced exec Daniel Sheils to its board

Experienced executive Daniel Sheils has been appointed as a non-executive director to the board of Coillte, Ireland’s national forestry company.
This new board role was confirmed a five-year period by Minister of State with responsibility for Forestry, Farm Safety and Horticulture, Niall Collins.
Coillte manages 440,000 hectares of primarily forested lands. Coillte leads the commercial production of Irish home-grown timber. It also has an important role in contributing to the delivery of Ireland’s national climate targets.
Daniel Sheils has worked in various capacities as a managing director in Accenture for over 20 years, most recently leading Accenture’s public service industry in EMEA since 2022. He is a chartered director accredited by the UK Institute of Directors and one of six directors of Accenture Ireland, providing board-level leadership within a major commercial organisation of more than 6,000 employees.
Minister Collins said: “Daniel is a highly accomplished professional who brings a wealth of experience and skills to the board. I am confident that his appointment will further enhance the good governance record of the Coillte board, in particular regarding his expertise and long experience in public service transformation.”
