OBLIG will host a farm walk event in Stamullen, Co Meath,
Organic beef and lamb farmers are invited to a farm walk launch event in Meath on August 28.
The event will be hosted by the Organic Beef and Lamb Innovation Group (OBLIG), a new farmer-led organics group, which will showcase its work and set out its plans for the year ahead.
The event will be hosted at Paul Kennedy's farm in Stamullen, Co Meath, with minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon set to attend.

OBLIG aims to bring farmers, finishers, processors and retailers together to ensure organically raised beef and lamb is sold as organic, ensuring farmers retain the premium they have worked for.
The organisation says that too often the value of organic produce leaks away when organic animals are sold into the conventional market.
The group is led by Irish Farm Accounts Co-operative Society Limited (ifac) and delivered with partners Teagasc, NOTS (National Organic Training Skillnet) and Leitrim Organic Farmers Co-op. It is co-funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), the European Union and EIP-Agri.
The farm walk will show the project’s work on the ground, look back at what has been achieved with the first group of farmers and map out what comes next. It will also be a way to meet the team, ask questions about plans and hear how the project works.
The event will also be an opportunity to apply for the next phase. OBLIG is recruiting a second group of farmers through 2026/2027, and any organic beef or lamb producer who wants to connect with finishers, processors and retailers and capture the full value of their organic status is encouraged to come along and find out more. There is no commitment involved in attending.
Member of the OBLIG Steering Group, Joe Kelleher, said: “Ireland has had great success in increasing the number of organic farmers over the past four years. We must now ensure that as much of this organic produce ends up in the organic food chain, therefore enabling farmers to receive premium prices for their organic produce.
"The OBLIG project is ideally positioned to help farmers overcome some of the barriers that may exist in accessing premium organic markets. OBLIG presents a fantastic opportunity for Irish organic farmers to receive support, allowing them to build thriving family farm businesses for generations to come.
