Mekitarian takes on new director role with Amcor
Lorcan Mekitarian, new sales director, Amcor Flexibles.
Packaging solutions manufacturer Amcor Flexibles Industrial UK & Ireland has appointed Lorcan Mekitarian as sales director.
Since Jan 2023, Lorcan has been chair of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA). His role with the CHSA is in maintaining ethical standards, embracing smarter technologies, and driving genuine sustainability.
Lorcan studied in Rockwell College, Co Tipperary, at Napier University in Edinburgh and at the Newcastle Polytechnic in England. He joined British Polythene Industries (BPI) in 1990 as an R&D technician at its Stockton on Tees site before moving into a commercial role as a sales manager for the refuse sack division.
Lorcan will work closely with Amcor’s Irish technical support team, which is led by Gerry O’Brien, sales manager.
Headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland, Amcor Flexibles specialises in flexible and rigid plastic packaging for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and medical industries.
Amcor has had a healthcare packaging facility In Sligo since 2003. Amcor invested €10m in its agri packaging line, which also manufactures Visqueen silage covers.
Amcor Flexibles is an environmentally friendly manufacturing business and incorporates 30% recycled polythene in its packaging products.
The group is a leading plastic recycler and converter in Europe, with the scope and expertise to recycle around 200,000 tonnes of plastic waste each year.
