Teagasc appoints new regional advisor for Kerry and Limerick
Nora O’Donovan, Teagasc regional advisory manager for Kerry and Limerick.
Noreen (Nora) O’Donovan has been appointed as Teagasc regional advisory manager, leading the delivery of advisory services to farmers and educational courses in counties Kerry and Limerick.
Nora has over 20 years of experience working with farmers and other stakeholders. She is currently working as a business and technology dairy advisor co-ordinating the demonstration farmer element of the Teagasc/Dairygold joint programme.
She was previously a dairy business and technology advisor in Co Kerry, facilitating five dairy discussion groups in Kerry. She has also worked as an agricultural and environmental consultant in the private sector in Co Carlow, and as a REPS planner for Teagasc in Kerry.
From a hill sheep farm in Kerry, Nora holds a degree in Agricultural Science from UCD, and a certificate in strategic leadership from DCU business school.
Thomas Curran, head of the Teagasc Advisory Service, said: “Nora has a strong record working for Teagasc and will lead the team in the region in delivery a strong technical service along with scheme support service.”
Nora replaces Majella Maloney, who will move to manage the Cork east region for Teagasc, following the retirement of John Horgan.
Dr Stan Lalor, director of knowledge transfer in Teagasc, thanked John Horgan for his contribution during his lengthy career in the Teagasc advisory service, and for the work he has done with farmers and for the agricultural sector.
