€550,000 sought for land near Cork City
The last few years have seen a number of modest-sized blocks of agricultural land come up on the outskirts of Cork City.
Each time they do, there is always strong interest, and a very strong price in the end.
Such, one would imagine, will be the case for a residential holding that’s new to the market with Cork-city based auctioneers Murray Browne.
The holding in question is a 30-acre farm all in one block and located in the townland of Kilnaglory, just south of Ballincollig and the N22 Macroom-Cork road which forms the Ballincollig by-pass.
The property, therefore, is easily accessed, just a 2km drive from the nearest N22 entry point, and about 4km from the centre of Ballincollig. Cork’s city centre is a convenient 20-minute (16km) drive away, while the villages of Killumney and Ovens are both within about 6km.
The house is a traditional-style two-storey farmhouse, in a derelict condition, but with its structure in place.
The impressive collection of outbuildings offer more immediate usefulness, but it’s the good quality land in this semi-suburban location that is the all-important point about this holding.
The price guide is set at €550,000.
Equating to just over €18,000 per acre, this is a strong price for agricultural land, but very much in line with what land prices for similarly-located parcels of land have achieved in recent years.
