Machinery: You may have to travel in 2017 for your machinery show ‘fix’

With no FTMTA Grass and Muck event in 2017, machinery enthusiasts may need to travel to get their event fix in the coming months.

A trip to Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire on May 24-25, 2017, may be the answer, although silage contractors will be at full steam by that stage.

This is the venue and date of the Grassland & Muck triennial event organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of England, partnered with Yara UK.

They will have a bumper display of machinery, live demonstrations and grass plots, along with advice and technical forums.

“With 145 acres of working grass and machinery demonstrations, Grassland & Muck is the biggest and best grass, forage and muck event in the UK,” says David Gardner, chief executive at the RASE.

“In 2014, we had nearly 13,500 visitors, and over 230 exhibitors.”

“Preparations for Grassland & Muck 2017 are roaring ahead, and stand sales are well under way,” says event organiser Alice Bell.

“With 92% of the 2014 exhibitors planning or booked, space is likely to sell out fast.”

For those not wanting to leave these shores, a trip to Balmoral Show in early May might be the machinery display tonic they need.

This year’s Show should provide a mix of food, farming excellence and showmanship alongside the normally large machinery display.

The show will run for four days this year, May 10-13, incorporating a Saturday for the first time.

The event sponsors, Ulster Bank, are backing a farm safety campaign to illustrate the potential dangers on a farm and how to stay safe.

If renewable energy equipment is your thing, then a May trip to Scotland may be in order.

All-Energy 2017 is due to take place at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), Glasgow, May 10-11.

It is the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference.

The event boasts 400 exhibiting companies from 16 countries and a packed multi-stream conference and seminar programme with around 400 speakers.

Finally, the tillage enthusiast have their own event to travel to in June, when Cereals 2017 showcases the latest in the sector.

The Cereals Event is the leading technical event for the UK arable industry, with over 64 hectares of stands and live demonstrations including crop plots, working demonstrations, the Syngenta Sprays & Sprayers arena, and a renewables area specially dedicated to renewable energy, biofuels and non-food crops.

Drone technology is becoming increasingly widespread in farming, especially in the crop sector.

The event organisers suggest that whether you’re new to drones or looking to upgrade to the latest equipment, a day at the Cereals 2017 will provide everything you need to know.

“With over 380 exhibitors at the event, visitors often find it hard to see everything they want to in a single day,” says Natalie Reed, event marketing manager.

“To help with this, we’re introducing Knowledge Trails, where visitors will be able to download maps prior to the show to help them pick out which individual exhibitors to visit, based on a chosen theme.”

Cereals 2017 organisers expect over 24,000 professional farmers and industry experts over two days, June 14-15, 2017, at Boothby Graffoe, Lincolnshire, England.
