Clare ICA enjoy day out to Kildare

A large contingent of Clare ICA members enjoyed a trip to Kildare Village earlier this month.
Clare ICA enjoy day out to Kildare

Guild members from Ennistymon, Kilmurry McMahon, Ballynacally, Clooney-Quin and Tradaree left Temple Gate Hotel, Ennis, at 9am. They picked up 23 ladies from Sixmilebridge Guild at Bunratty and at Birdhill linked up Bridgetown, Scariff and Broadford members.

The ladies were guests of Tess Purcell and Kildare Village.

“On arrival, everybody got a choice of tea, coffee or Prosecco served in the VIP lounge, courtesy of Kildare Village,” says a spokesperson.

“Tess gave a short presentation on style and fashion and was available to advise on purchasing options throughout the day. She showed a selection of bargains from certain stores and she showed how outfits could be accessorised and presented differently for various occasions.

“The range of stores offering discounts was a big plus. The real icing on the cake was an extra discount for those travelling on the bus.”

Laden down with bags, the ladies returned to the bus that evening and were in Clare before 8pm.

“A thoroughly enjoyable day” was the verdict of all.

“Tess said she would organise similar trips for guilds or on a county-wide basis for federations. As she bade the group safe travel, she invited anybody visiting the Village again to make prior contact with her and she would assist them.”

Meanwhile, Kilmurry McMahon Guild’s monthly meeting coincided with International Women’s Day. Members focused on the international aspect of the day rather than women’s issues.

They featured international food/drink: Dutch Gouda, French Brie, Irish Cheddar with Scottish shortbread, Irish crackers accompanied by Sicilian and French wine and Spanish grapes.

These were served by two men, Matt and Vince, who also provided music and serenaded the ladies. Jenny O’Shea proposed a toast to all women and co-president Aine Heslin wished ‘Go mbeirimid beo ar an am seo arís’.
