Expect these payments throughout December

EU schemes and the rural development programme are on course to pay out nearly €600 million due to farmers this month, helping ease cash flow problems, and hopefully leave something over for Christmas.

Basic Payment Scheme balancing payments — which have started on December 1 — are likely to total €336m, to about 125,000 farmers.
