€15,000 per acre hasn’t put bidders off Raheen property
The land is presented to the market as Lot A of 27 acres and Lot B of 28.9 acres, but there is plenty of appetite for the entire farm, and there is already a strong offer on the table.
The property is a level, regular-shaped block of top-quality pasture farmland laid out in six neat divisions.
The farm is located immediately to the west of Cork city, in an area of superb agricultural land to the south of the Model Farm Road and north of the Ballincollig bypass.
It’s also situated close to Curraheen Greyhound Track, Cork City FC, and the Cork Institute of Technology.
“This is absolutely superb land,” says selling agent Declan Hickey.
“Sometimes you’ll walk land and find that it’s almost completely excellent apart from a rough section here or a poorly-drained section there, but with this farm, there is absolutely no waste. It’s like land in Holland.”
Apart from the Dutch levels of efficiency evident on the holding, there is very good access and reliable water and electricity services.
The farm is currently laid out in pasture and according to the agent, there is a great quality of deep soil present here.
The final piece of the jigsaw with this ground is that it enjoys some interesting potential.
Although the zoning in these fields so close to Munster’s capital is strictly agricultural at this moment, it is the sort of location that makes a lot of sound sense to purchase with an eye to the long term.
It’s no surprise, therefore, that the €15,000/acre price tag hasn’t put people off.
“Bidding is good and we already have an offer in the region of the asking price,” says Declan.
