Yara launches fertiliser terminal in Cork
Operating a full-time base in Ireland since 2010, Yara now employs eight people here, including a sales agronomist and a grassland agronomist, to support customers in the better use of fertiliser and analytical tools and services.
It has a 50-year relationship with Irish clients, having evolved from different names such as Fisons, Norsk Hydro via Hydro Agri to Yara Ireland.
The world’s largest producer of nitrogen, Yara supplies branded fertilisers and crop nutrition products to the Irish market through an established network of local merchants and co-ops.
Yara specialises in production and agronomic research and development to deliver innovative lower carbon footprint high quality products.
The Ringaskiddy terminal launch was attended by Yara’s president and CEO, Svein Tore Holsether; Lord Mayor of Cork, Chris O’Leary; Ambassador Roald Næss, Norwegian ambassador for Ireland; Karl Gardner, Irish ambassador for Norway, and leaders in the Irish farming industry.
The fertilisers received in to the new terminal are specially formulated complex compound fertilisers for Irish farming, and delivered through a network of distributors, which partner with Yara in the exchange of knowledge of crop nutrition with the farmer.
Among the special guests at the launch was Kilkenny hurler TJ Reid, who brought the Liam MacCarthy Cup with him.
