Top Jersey herd wins interbreed hat-trick
This time, it was fourth calver Potterswalls Action Daisybelle Ex94 impressing interbreed judge Rebecca Jarvis, Harrogate, Yorkshire.
Sired by Forest Glen Avery Action and out of Potterswalls Jamaica Daisybelle, she last calved in October.
She gave 9,000 litres in her last lactation. She won her breed champion title at the Ulster Winter Fair in 2013 and 2014.
Travelling up from Co Kildare, exhibitor Brochan Cocoman had to be content with the dairy interbreed honours, but he went home happy, having won the breed championship for the first time with his home-bred Holstein, Kilwarden Windbrook Vix Ex90.
Vix, a second calver, last calved in November, and is giving 40 litres/day.
She previously won her class at the Ulster Winter Fair.
* Meanwhile, at the Emerald Expo show in Cavan, the Glanbia Senior Cow Championship was won by Co Wexford’s Philip and Linda Jones, with their Hallow Advent Twizzle 3 ET.
She was also the Exhibitor Bred Champion and Best Udder of the Show winner.
The Reserve Championship went to Monamore Seavers Iris, winner of the 4-year old cow-in-milk class, shown by James Kelly,Drogheda.
Honourable mention went to Mike Magan’s Bunacloy V-B Doorman Alioli ET, tapped out earlier as Intermediate and Junior 2 year-old champ.
Monamore PNH Darlene 1 ET exhibited by James Kelly was the show’s EBI Champion.
