Crop losses of up to 30% for vegetable growers

Waterlogging and higher disease levels have resulted in crop losses of up to 30% for vegetable growers, says IFA Field Vegetable and Protected Crops spokesman Matt Foley.

He warns that some farm businesses are in jeopardy with unsustainable prices at the farm gate exacerbating difficulties.

“Growers have limped along with poor returns and survived only due to exceptional yields and recent benign winters.”
