Irish Farmers’ Association’s Live Animal Crib enjoys another good year in Dublin
Now established as a cherished part of any family’s visit to Dublin in the run-up to Christmas, it also helps to raise funds for those in need.
It was formally opened on December 8 by IFA deputy president Tim O’Leary and an tArdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh.
This is the 21st Crib, a gift from the farmers of Ireland to Dublin.
It is a joint initiative between Dublin City Council and the IFA.
Last year, donations to the Live Animal Crib raised almost €15,300 for the Mansion House Fuel Fund, one of Dublin’s oldest charities which supports a number of causes including St Vincent de Paul and the Simon Community.
Dublin City Council’s housing maintenance section designed and constructed the life-size crib to house the animals which are under the continuous care of the IFA.
The stable contained a sheep, donkey and goat.
They were brought in each morning and returned to a farm on the outskirts of the city each evening.
