Major slurry tankers for Glastonbury farm
That’s how many attend the Glastonbury five-day festival of contemporary performing arts in Somerset, England, in June.
So it’s a publicity coup for Irish machinery manufacturer Major Equipment Intl Ltd that their slurry tankers are the machine of choice on Worthy Farm, owned by Michael Eavis, site of the Glastonbury festival.
Worthy Farm recently invested in two tandem-axle Major 3500 gallon tankers with 650 x 24 flotation tyres.
They will be kept busy on the 400-cow dairy farm, which achieves an average yield 12,300 litres, despite not using artificial fertilisers, relying totally on regular slurry applications.
The 600 acres of grass (there’s also 100 acres of maize for silage) gets the slurry from over 700, in up to four applications per year.
Meanwhile, Major hosts a slurry information day for TAMS II applicants tomorrow (Friday) from 2 to 8pm, at their factory in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo.
