Macra: Macravision singing stars in the spotlight
Limerick Macra, which is overseeing the hugely popular karaoke competition, is on the hunt for entrants for the gala event, which will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa in Limerick on Saturday October 10.
There will be prizes for best solo performer and group, as well as for runners up, and for the best costume and best lucky dip category winner.
Those who bring along the best mascot will also win a prize and will be invited to bring the mascot along for a GAA seven-a-side event which will take place the following day.
The competition is open to all and those wishing to sing should email macravision@ gmail.com or call Sarah on 087 9338284 for a list of the songs, marking scheme, and directions if necessary.
All acts and song choices for solo performers and groups must be confirmed by Tuesday, October 6.
Lucky Dip category entrants will be decided on the night.
Sign-in for performing acts is between 7.30pm and 8pm, with sound checks scheduled from 8pm to 8.30pm.
All acts must perform to backing music, and musical instruments are not allowed. Groups should be made up of no more than six persons — all of whom must sing.
General Macra competition rules will apply. Props are allowed but must be provided by performers.
The maximum time allowed on stage is five minutes per act. Lucky dip category winners will be by audience vote. Score sheets will be available from October 13 via email.
The Limerick Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa is offering special B&B rates on the night.
Those wishing to stay should call 061 456200 and quote ‘Macravision’ to avail of a B&B single rate of €90 or a €100 rate for twin/double room. Rooms will be held until September 28 and are limited.
The closing date for entries is Tuesday, October 6.
Entry forms can be emailed to macravision@gmail.com or posted to Sarah O’Riordan, Greybridge, Meanus, Kilmallock, Co Limerick.
The cost of entry is €10.
