Home comforts on a combine harvester

The harvest won’t seem like a chore for those sitting in the Suite Ultra cab of a New Holland CR combine harvester.

Visitors to the recent Cereals 2015 event in England tested out the new cab, which New Holland say offers a home away from home for operators working long hours.

The 73 decibel cab noise level is about the same as your vacuum cleaner. Adjustable air conditioning helps too.

An integrated fridge for food and drinks can be re moved for easy replenishment. Two seating options are designed for comfort.

Visibility is a feature of the cab, thanks a 7% increase in glass to a 6.3 square metres panoramic view, including an uninterrupted sight of the unloading auger.

The sloping cab floor to the front windscreen allows a clear view of the h eader.

Operators can have “eyes in the back of their heads”, say New Holland, with wide-angle electric mirrors, and monitor linked to up to six optional viewing cameras.

Equal attention is paid to night visibility.

The spread of light has been precision engineered for visibility of the entire header, and rear and front field viewing. Special auger lights make unloading easy even in pitch darkness.

The console is designed for ergonomic control of harvesting, including the Command Grip multifunction handle, with intuitive control and finger-tip adjustment of speed, designed to become an extension of the operator.
