Kentucky-based Alltech made the announcement at its crop science seminar in Dublin, attended by more than 40 industry leaders.

The seminar offered insights on soil quality, soil testing and crop management. It highlighted the need for consistency, risk management and resistance building in crop production.

Alltech Ireland managing director Kevin Tuck said: “One of the main reasons for expanding our European research facility at Dunboyne was to further develop the Alltech Crop Science research programme.”

Tom McCabe, cereal production expert and lecturer at University College Dublin, addressed the seminar on the importance of soil quality and the significance of planning ahead. “Farmers need to think of themselves as the ‘last line of defence’ and plan strategically towards their future, carefully planning to optimise cropping strategy and rotation.”
