The naturally gluten-free properties and other nutritional benefits of chia, sorghum, amaranth, and quinoa have attracted Glanbia’s speciality grain experts to market these for bar and bakery applications.

Amaranth has been cultivated as a grain for 8,000 years. It was a staple of the Aztecs. Chia was also cultivated by the Aztecs, and quinoa was “domesticated” 3,000 to 4,000 years ago for human consumption in Andean regions.
