All-Ireland approach to agri-food industry ‘essential’, says Sinn Féin

A 32-county approach to the development of the agri-food industry, the protection of the family farm, and the defence of Ireland’s fisheries is essential.

That’s the view of Sinn Féin’s agriculture team which met in Dublin following the outcome of the European elections. Michelle O’Neill, MLA, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister in the North and Martin Ferris TD, the party’s agriculture spokesperson in the Dáil, discussed a wide range of issues, including the Common Agricultural Policy and the strengthened Sinn Féin representation in the EU with the election of four MEPs.

Deputy Ferris said: “There is no mileage is competing with each other North and South... there is a market there for everyone... which can be marketed as an ‘Irish’ brand. Deputy Ferris said Sinn Féin looks forward to a stronger EU voice now that it has an all-Ireland representation there.
