Alltech is investing 725,000 in the programme over the next year, with the objective of providing innovative formats for new nutritional technologies for dairies, improving animal health and welfare, and increasing dairy farm profitability.

“Graduates recruited today will make the strategic decisions of tomorrow,” said Prof Maurice Boland, Alltech director of research and former director of the UCD-Teagasc Partnership. “The approach we will take is not just to instruct and share knowledge, but to show graduates the route of experiential learning.

“The programme allows graduates with a passion for dairy farming to develop solutions for emerging industry issues and make their stamp on this flourishing industry.”

Participants will work with progressive dairies around the world to understand first-hand the operation of a dairy business. They will implement nutritional technologies to demonstrate an improvement in animal health, performance and profitability.

“Next year will bring huge change to the European dairy industry with the removal of dairy quotas,” said Alltech founder Dr Pearse Lyons. “We aim to develop the next generation of dairy nutritionists ready to support the global expan-sion of milk production.

Alltech will accept applications until April 30 from recent graduates with a degree or a masters in animal science, dairy science, dairy business or veterinary medicine.
