Carbery biofuel targets petrol-powered vehicles

CARBERY Milk Products in Ballineen, Co Cork, has tapped into a new market — Ireland’s motorists.

Carbery biofuel targets petrol-powered vehicles

Maxol’s E5 fuel biofuel can now be used in all standard petrol vehicles. Maxol claim it the first time that drivers of standard petrol powered vehicles throughout Ireland will be able to use a bio-fuel without risk to the car manufacturer’s warranty.

And the bioethanol which makes up 5% of the fuel, which is 95% petrol, comes from Carbery, extracted from whey in the alcohol plant at the west Cork company, which is a major international manufacturer of food ingredients, flavours and cheese. Carbery is owned by the Bandon, Barryroe, Drinagh and Lisavaird dairy co-operatives, and processes the milk from their suppliers throughout west Cork.
