Recruitment under way for decentralisation

RECRUITMENT has begun for decentralisation of up to 100 staff from Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food local offices in Cork city to Fermoy.

Reporting to the Dáil on the decentralisation progress in her Department, Minister Mary Coughlan said 116 posts have moved to Portlaoise from Dublin, up to the end of June 2007.

Some 600 staff in total are due to move from Dublin to Portlaoise, and up to 100 are to move from laboratories in Cork and Limerick to Macroom. “Initially, there were 73 applicants for the 100 posts advertised for Fermoy, and 74 for the 100 posts advertised for Macroom,” said the Minister.
