ICMSA hosts “future of farming” debate

AGRICULTURE Minister Mary Coughlan will go head-to-head in a debate with Opposition spokespersons Denis Naughten of Fine Gael, Senator Kathleen O’Meara, Labour Party; and Martin Ferris, Sinn Féin at the ICMSA Annual General Meeting today.

The PDs and the Green Party will also be represented on the debating panel.

The politicians have been invited to give their views on the future for Irish farming families to the meeting at Limerick Racecourse.

ICMSA President Jackie Cahill said their objective is to restore the theme of farm income to the political agenda ahead of the 2007 general election, and bring about better understanding of farmers’ problems by politicians.
