Back on the open market

CLONACODY House failed to sell at auction on Wednesday, withdrawn when bidding reached €7 million.

Back on the open market

There were only two bidders for the Georgian house and its 122 acres. The property opened at €5 million and was taken up in bids of €250,000 to the guide price of €7 million.

It didn’t budge after that, says Aidan O’Dwyer of Sherry FitzGerald O’Dwyer Davern, but negotiations continued afterwards. However, the property is now back on the open market and the vendors, the Carrigan family, will wait to get a good price.

Clonacody is at the centre of Co Tipperary’s bloodstock industry, close to Coolmore Stud. The main house is a splendid, early Georgian pile with views over the Comeraghs and Slievenamon.

The land has been used for horses in the recent past, but is also equipped as a cattle-rearing facility. It has a good farmyard, a number of loose boxes and a 1.5-mile gallop.

Three smaller residences are included.
