Fuel price rises ‘could ruin farmers’

President Malcolm Thompson said predicted price hikes could have a ruinous effect on farmers.

The silage contractors will pass on the costs to the farmers, and this would add hugely to the silage saving bills, which is already an expensive business, he said. He urged the Government to act swiftly to ensure rising fuel costs does not trigger an economic disaster in the agri-sector.
