Quilt delight for Mary
She is a member of the Four Winds Patchwork Group and one of their quilts, entitled Colonade, has been chosen for the Patchwork and Quilting Expo which take place in the Dutch capital, the Hague, on April 28.
It’s only one of two quilts in Ireland (the other is in Limerick) to be selected for the exhibition.
The quilt will be on show in The Hague until the autumn when it will go to Houston in Texas for the International Quilting Festival.
There are 30 entries in the section in which the Irish quilts are entered. It’s called Old Masters/New Masters and the Cork quilt is based on the designs of Spanish architect Gaudi.
His architecture, prominent in Barcelona, inspired the group during the Barcelona Expo.
The group intends to travel to Holland for the Quilting Expo in The Hague and may even head off to Houston in Texas in the autumn.
More on this when the Colonade quilt is fully finished later this month when it is hoped that a photograph can be set up before it begins its journey to Holland.
