Race to provide cheaper phone calls

The country’s two main farming bodies are involved in a race to provide cheaper phone calls to their members.
Race to provide cheaper phone calls

IFA Telecom, launched in Dublin last week, said it will provide low cost home and business call charges to members, countryside members, associate members and associated agribusiness.

The ICMSA has now followed up with an announcement that it is in talks with a telecommunications company to provide for the lowest telephone charges to farmers across all categories.

IFA Telecom predicted that its service would offer significant savings of up to 30% on home and business telephone calls.

The ICMSA said the service it plans to provide would result in savings of up to 35% on phone bills.

It is focusing in particular on substantially reducing the cost of making calls to mobile phones from the home phone.

“ICMSA is determined to get the best possible deal for farmers.

“The aim is to offer more choice to farm families and to achieve average savings of over €180 for a farm family over a year,” it said.
