Advice for contractors of farm machinery
Farm Tractor and Machinery Trade Association president Simon Cross suggested they look towards new approaches.
These could include the offer of a complete machinery service with a monthly direct debit payment system based on an annual cost, subject to adjustment for weather and crop effects.
“Contractors need to achieve this so they can improve their cash flow and become better customers of dealers.”
Addressing the Professional Agricultural Contractors conference, he said CAP reform will bring about a change in the use of farm machinery with a split between part-time farmers, commercial farmers and agricultural contractors.
The future outlook for farm machinery dealers is closely linked with customers. And while farmers are optimistic about their future under de-coupling, contractors should be, too.
