Bord Glas to merge with Bord Bia
Agriculture and Food Minister Joe Walsh announced yesterday that draft legislation to effect the merger is now in preparation.
It will be presented to the Oireachtas in due course. The main stakeholders will be consulted as appropriate during this process, he said.
Mr Walsh suggested last November, when announcing the 2003 estimates for his department, that the possible advantages that might accrue from a merger of Bord Bia and Bord Glas should be considered.
Potato Committee chairman John Sheridan said the IFA would be seeking assurances from Mr Walsh on the move.
