Glanbia awarded global standards

Glanbia, the €1.8 billion turnover food giant, has been accredited to two global standards for food safety and environmental management in respect of processing plants and facilities in Ireland.

Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan presented the group with the BRC global standard for its liquid milk processing facilities at Ballitore (Co Kildare), Drogheda, and Waterford, its soups and sauces facility in Kilkenny and its Dublin distribution depots in Fonthill and Sandyford.

She also presented Glanbia with the ISO 14001 accreditation for environmental management at its liquid milk processing facilities in Ballitore, Drogheda and Waterford.

Glanbia Consumer Foods, which accepted the awards at a ceremony in Dublin, holds leading market positions with dairy, food and beverage brands such as Avonmore, Premier, Yoplait, Petits Filous and Kilmeaden.

Minister Coughlan, congratulating the team members on their achievements, said the commitment to promoting first-rate standards of food hygiene, safety awareness and quality control and, above all, customer care, makes each of them deserving recipients of the awards.

Glanbia managing director John Moloney said the group manufactures two of the top three brands in Ireland today and it has a relentless commitment to measurement and to reaching the highest possible standards for customers and consumers.

Last year, the Group invested more than €20 million in capital investment programmes for food safety and environmental sustainability.
