Dr Kevin McCarthy (Letters, Irish Examiner) is, of course, perfectly entitled to deplore Benjamin Netanyahu’s electoral success but he stretches the point when he claims that it is “a triumph for the politics of fear over socio-economics [in which] he created national security paranoia in the last days of a bitterly divisive election campaign”.

The zig-zag policy of the Government with regard to the private rented sector and its so-called investors is mind-boggling. One year, disincentives are put in the way of ‘speculators’; the next, they are removed and new incentives put back.

May I throw some light on the Israeli general election, the results of which worried Dr Kevin McCarthy [Letters, 19 March]. 

On March 17, millions of Palestinians, living under Israeli military occupation in the West Bank, did not get to cast a ballot in an Israeli election.

Our people who drink alcohol to excess did not discover it themselves.
