West Bank will have a vote if annexed by Israel

David Morrison and his Ireland Palestine Alliance have to make up their minds (Irish Examiner, Letters, March 23).

West Bank will have a vote if annexed by Israel

If they want the Arabs of the West Bank to have a vote in Israeli elections, they will have to agree to Israel annexing the West Bank.

West Bank Arabs live under the autonomy of the Palestinian Arab Authority, in areas where no Israeli Jews can live or enter, and where the construction of homes, mosques, public buildings and the other structures of a putative state is going on apace with large amounts of Qatari and EU funds.

The last PA elections in the West Bank and Gaza were 10 years ago, when Hamas swept the board in Gaza and came close to a majority in the West Bank.

Overdue Palestinian PA elections would result in a Hamas takeover of the West Bank, as happened in Gaza after Israel withdrew, and if Israelis were expelled from the West Bank by the UN, before elections took place, Mahmoud Abbas would be unable to hold out against Hamas.

Now there is a queue of ever-more barbaric groups, such as ISIS, on the borders of Israel, in Syria , Sinai and Jordan, poised to also take over a state of Palestine, and Israel itself.

So, can anyone blame Benjamin Netanyahu for saying he could not agree to an Arab-Palestinian State? Do not Mr Morrison and his Alliance remind us of the young man who murders his parents and then pleads for mercy because he is an orphan?
