I wish to express how sad I feel for Denis O’Brien. Despite his business acumen, success and wealth, none of his legal and PR advisers warned him of the Streisand Effect, whereby attempting to conceal something draws more attention to it.
Your readers should be aware that the Government has agreed to sell its share in Aer Lingus to the International Airlines Group (IAG), which also owns British Airways (BA), for a pittance.
After the recent Irish referenda, may I suggest to the Catholic Church that they should have two referenda. The first should be to let priests marry, or at least to give up celibacy, whether they are straight or gay.

It would appear there is some truth in the expression “justice is available to those who can afford it”.
I was appalled at the attitude of Junior Minister, Aodhán O’Riordáin, to changing the laws that preserve the ethos of denominational schools of all religions.
It is mind-boggling that of the 166 members of Dail Eireann, only one TD persisted in asking about the dealings of Denis O’Brien, Siteserv and IRBC.
I take issue with Suzanne Harrington’s claim (Irish Examiner, June 1) that ‘A foetus only has the potential to be a human being’.
Matt Cooper’s interesting interview on Today FM’s Last Word with Jonathan Shackleton ( second cousin to Ernest Shackleton) made me think that it is about time Ireland reclaimed Ernest Shackleton.
