Cruel of Irish Rail to leave train passengers standing

I’m 13 years old and last Thursday, my 76-year-old granny and I were travelling to Cork by train, via Irish Rail.

Cruel of Irish Rail to leave train passengers standing

When we arrived at Dublin’s Heuston Station to begin the journey, I bought my ticket with my confirmation money.

After that, we were kept waiting until a loud announcement came over the sound system and everybody rushed onto the train in a panic to get a seat.

We weren’t fast enough though and my granny and I stood for the three hours that the journey lasted and my granny’s back still hurts now.

The train was full of people standing, with 30 people sitting on the floor and a pregnant woman standing, holding her belly.

I am sickened by this: it was a dreadful act of cruelty towards old and pregnant women.

Irish Rail let the people down and there’s no excuse for it.

We need to find a new way of ticketing on our trains as this is horrendous.
