In Christ’s name, I call on the Taoiseach to account for the 70 families being made homeless every month.

Up to 250,000 people have been killed in the Syrian civil war so far, and more than 11m Syrians have become refugees or displaced within Syria. That’s the equivalent of twice the population of Cork City killed and twice the population of all of Ireland homeless.

Yet again we see governments, including our own, bumbling around and trying not to offend any prospective voters, instead of solving a problem.

When the banking catastrophe crashed upon the shores of Ireland, our Government nationalised the banks. We hear lately that they want to privatise those same banks again. The people of Ireland now rightly own the banks, although you would never think so.

Mr Noonan has long since paid off any mortgage on his family home and has never had to pay the mortgage on his Dublin home as the Irish taxpayer has (repeatedly) paid for that capital asset, as they have done for the likes of Mr Kenny, Mr Martin, Mr Adams and others.

It is not by chance that the migrant crisis might ease off, but a roaring certainty that it will increase rapidly throughout Europe, like a tsunami.

I was disgusted to read this article (‘Dog killed in ‘savage’ attack in council shelter’ September 15) which gives an unfair and biased view of the council shelter, dog warden and wonderful lady who has been giving her own time to help to re-home hundreds of dogs which would otherwise be most likely euthanised.
