While there is hardly a day goes by when the HSE doesn’t come in for some media criticism, I should like to remind your readers that on the shop floor, as it were doctors, nurses and ancillary staff are working flat out to deliver the best service possible to their patients.

Victoria White in her article (Irish Examiner, September 24) wrongly lays blame at “the interpretation of the Official Languages Act” when it is glaringly obvious to all concerned that had bilingual results been issued, as is mandated by law, this issue could have been averted.

A couple of readers’ letters (Irish Examiner, September 21) on the same subject display differing headlines. One mentions the “migrant crisis”, the other refers to the “refugee crisis”. Such terms are often uncritically used interchangeably.

I chose not to get involved with the Stop Out-of-Control Drinking campaign because of its association with Diageo .

The recent drink-driving case ruling from the High Court has fallen like manna from heaven to those like Victoria White (Irish Examiner, September 24), who wish to have a go at the Official Languages Act. 

It would be impossible to please everyone on the Cork City/County merger.
