iPhone 7 may take a leaf out of Samsung's book
According to ETNews, Apple is getting OLED display samples from Samsung. It was previously reported that the iPhone 7S would utilise an OLED display, but it looks like Apple is going to move up its schedule.
Apple has already equipped the Apple Watch with an OLED display, so it has tested the waters.
The key difference between these two displays is that LCD displays use a backlight to light up their pixels, while OLED pixels create light on their own. OLED displays, as a result, typically have a greater contrast ratio. On the other hand, LCD displays can theoretically achieve a higher level of brightness across the whole screen.
Apple will supposedly make a decision in November as to whether it’ll switch to OLED displays for the iPhone 7 or if it will stick with an LCD display.
