Sony may be about to slow its release schedule

Sony has been releasing two phones a year since 2013, but may be about to slow things down a little. From next year, Sony may only have one flagship per year in store.

Sony may be about to slow its release schedule

Sony's Art Director Rikke Gertsen Constein said that the design department is working on flagship phones for the second half of 2016, 2017 and 2018. What she didn’t mention in her interview with Sony Xperia Poland’s YouTube channel was smartphone was anything to do with smartphones due out in the first part of the year.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be a phone out in the first half of next year. It could alternatively mean that the design for the early 2016 handset is already locked down.

Constein also responded to comments that Xperia handsets may be too similar. She said that Sony created a strong icon in the Xperia at the start and that the company wants to evolve and improve the design constantly rather than make wholesale changes.

The interview is below so you can read into the situation and comments for yourself.
