Mason Hayes & Curran adds to tax and finance teams

New appointees at Mason Hayes & Curran: Tara Nestor, Finn Kelly, Will Carmody, managing partner, and Susan Lynch.

Law firm Mason Hayes & Curran has unveiled three senior appointments across its tax and financial services teams.

Finn Kelly joins the firm as partner, Susan Lynch is promoted to of counsel in the firm's tax practice, while Tara Nestor joins as of counsel in debt capital markets.

The firm is seeing a growth in demand from businesses and financial institutions seeking specialist advice with complex investment, tax and disclosure requirements across international markets.

Will Carmody, managing partner, said: “Clients want advisers with deep industry sector insight; people who understand the commercial pressures which their clients face, not just the legal framework.

“Increasingly, that means understanding how tax and regulation shape financing decisions from the outset. Finn, Susan and Tara each advise in areas where those issues overlap, and their appointments reflect the growing needs of our clients.”

Finn Kelly will advise clients on all aspects of Irish tax, with a primary focus on the financial services sector. He specialises in advising asset managers, investment funds, financial institutions and aircraft leasing companies on the tax aspects of their business operations in Ireland.

This includes establishing and operating Irish investment platforms and the tax treatment of financing transactions.

Susan Lynch brings more than 30 years’ experience across Big 4 tax advisory and an in-house role giving her a unique perspective on diverse client requirements.

She works with Irish and international businesses on a wide range of tax issues, from complex cross-border tax structuring to employee share incentive schemes. She also helps clients with tax risk management and disputes involving tax authorities.

Tara Nestor advises banks and corporates on debt issuance and listed securities, including bond programmes, public and private securities offerings and disclosure requirements. She previously worked for an international law firm across Luxembourg, London and Dublin.

Neil Campbell, partner and head of financial services at Mason Hayes & Curran, said: "Tara has advised on cross-border financing transactions across major European markets and understands the regulatory pressures facing international clients. That experience is directly relevant to the work we do for banks and corporates raising finance through Ireland."

Tara added: "Ireland continues to be a key market for international debt issuance and securities listings. Disclosure requirements and the regulatory framework for listed debt continue to evolve across Europe, and clients are seeking clear, practical guidance as those changes take effect. There is a lot of interesting work ahead.”
