American Chamber unveils Paul Sweetman as its new CEO
Paul Sweetman, newly appointed as CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland.
The American Chamber of Commerce Ireland has announced Paul Sweetman as its incoming CEO; he succeeds Mark Redmond, who departs AmCham at the end of March after ten years as CEO.
Mr Sweetman brings significant experience to his new role with AmCham, an independent group that promotes transatlantic business relationships, and represents the interests of companies with operations in Ireland and the USA.

Mr Sweetman’s most recent role was as managing partner of public affairs consultancy Instinctif Partners. He has also held senior roles with Ibec, including director of Financial Services Ireland, director of Technology Ireland, head of transport and public-private partnership policy and, environment policy executive.
Elaine Murphy, president of AmCham and site lead with Signify Health Ireland, said: “We are delighted to appoint someone with the breadth and depth of experience and leadership that Paul possesses.
“Over the course of his career to date he has developed a deep understanding of the US multinational sector in Ireland, a track record of impactful advocacy at the most senior level and a strategic awareness of how to lead business membership organisations. Our board, team and membership greatly look forward to Paul leading AmCham on its next phase of growth and innovation.”
 Paul Sweetman has served as a board member of Digital Europe, Fastrack into IT (FIT), Gaisce — The President’s Award and the Data Governance Board for Ireland’s Public Service.
A graduate of UCD and Virginia Tech, USA, Paul also holds a Certificate in ESG from UC Berkeley Law and has completed leadership programmes at TU Dublin and Oxford University.

The US-Ireland trade and investment relationship exceeded $1 trillion in 2022. Almost 1,000 US-owned firms operate in Ireland, with an investment value of nearly $574bn (€527bn).
Ambassador Cronin also noted that Ireland’s educated workforce, legal certainty, and conducive business culture make it an ideal location for US companies to locate their European and international headquarters. As a member of both the EU and the Eurozone, Ireland continues to be a prime investment destination for US companies.
