A man claiming to be the inventor of Bitcoin has gone public, saying he wants to allay fears about the digital currency and help people understand its potential.

The creator was previously known under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto to protect his identity, but he has now been named as Australian Dr Craig Wright.
