Royal Bank of Scotland today said it had resolved a glitch which delayed around 600,000 payments for customers.

The bank backed by British taxpayers said it was “extremely sorry” for the problem which affected all four of its banking brands – NatWest, RBS, Ulster Bank and private bank Coutts.
