Energy prices 'crucial for future economic success'

A leading business group has said competitive energy prices are crucial for Ireland's future economic success.

Ibec said policy choices in the forthcoming White Paper on Energy Policy, and meeting EU climate and energy targets would directly affect our ability to compete and grow the economy.

It is calling on the Government to ensure EU reform on climate change does not unfairly disadvantage Ireland.

Ibec also said the social and economic benefits of electricity grid reinforcement must be maximised without incurring unreasonable delays and costs.
