No vacancies on Grafton Street once more

Dublin's Grafton Street is back to full occupancy.

Two vacant premises have been let, further evidence of the recovery in Ireland's retail sector.

Lifestyle Sports intends to establish its new flagship store in 57 and 58 Grafton Street, a premises measuring almost 14,500 square feet in total. It's believed the rent will be approximately €675,000 a year for the premises.

Meanwhile, Claire's Accessories has signed a lease for 23 Grafton Street, formerly the Dalveys store, for roughly €220,000, and are due to open in early December.

Savills, who handled the letting to Life Style Sports, said the 57-58 Grafton Street property attracted interest from several "high-profile international retailers".

"With the return in retail spend; there has been a notable increase in the level of activity in, not just the Grafton Street area, but the entire retail market," said Darragh Cronin of Savills.

"There was competitive bidding on both properties which has undoubtedly left a number of high profile tenants with an unfulfilled requirement for a store location.

He said a lack of larger stores meant many major retailers are unable to find the right property on the street.
